Lunch With the Big Kids

May 15th, 2006 § 2

Kaity and a group of friends went with their school counselor to have lunch today at their soon-to-be junior high, a way of introducing them to their new school – and the free-for-all of a junior high cafeteria.

Central Junior High

Kaity had a sandwich and Sun Chips, and used her extra money to buy doughnuts, cookies, and other assorted junk food to share with the group. Looks like she’ll be brown-baggin’ it next year.

I so am not brown-baggin’ it next year!

So a bologna sandwich, chips, coke, and an ice cream sandwich, everyday – YES, EVERY SINGLE DAY – throughout junior high isn’t a good idea? It certainly seemed nutritious at the time.

So Kaity – are you thinking maybe the cool kids don’t brown bag? What about the healthy kids? I bet they do. Given a choice, I think I’d rather be healthy (and awake for afternoon classes). Also, when you brown bag at least you know the person who prepared your food washed their hands after they went to the bathroom. Just something to think about……
