OK, so it’s a couple of weeks since St. Patrick’s Day, but we’ve been swamped. We did make it to the 20th anniversary Downtown St. Patty’s Day Parade, however. There were 150 entries (one of which was constructed by our neighbors across the street). It’s a chance to get your Irish freak on, and the denizens of Lawrence never miss a chance to get a little freaky. Exhibit A (from the audience):

I’m pretty sure St. Patrick didn’t chase the 8-legged poodles out of Ireland.
And it wouldn’t be a parade in Lawrence without a tribute to our Wild West roots:

There were 8-9 Wild Women in the parade, including Calamity Jane and Belle Starr.
We left the parade around entry # 86, but we did get to see these guys:

which made the day totally worth it!
[...] This vehicle has a zero-turning radius (like the lawnmowers Poppy used to sell), so it goes forward, backward, and around in circles. There was also live music, including a rock band, a marching Jazz ensemble, and a hobo with a banjo. And best of all, the parade was over in 15 minutes flat!
