Hot Wings

I can’t get enough of hot wings. Ever. But, it is ridiculously expensive to go to a restaurant and order them. Plus, everybody has a different idea about what hot wings are supposed to taste like. Well, we decided to come up with a recipe that met our definition of what hot wings are supposed to be. And now we have one less thing to go out to dinner for.

We use chicken breats instead of wing pieces. Either way, the recipe is the same, though we’ve never acutally used wing pieces. Like our fried chicken recipe, this works best if you do it in a deep frier. If you use a skillet, you can use less olive oil.

Hot Wings!

Ingredients

  • 2 quarts olive oil
  • 2 lbs Chicken breasts
  • 1 cup flour
  • 12 oz bottle of Frank’s Hot Sauce
  • 6 oz butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper

Preparation

  1. Preheat olive oil to 400 F
  2. Defrost chicken
  3. Cut chicken into bite sized cubes

Instructions

Pour half the bottle of hot sauce into a pan and add an equal amount of butter, and the cayenne pepper. Heat on medium-low until it bubbles. Remove from heat. In the meantime, add flour, salt, and pepper to a 1 gallon freezer bag and mix well. Add chicken and shake, coating evenly and thoroughly, taking care to ensure the chicken pieces are well separated. Deep fry for 12 – 15 mins. Combine chicken and hot sauce in a large bowl with a lid. Shake bowl, coating chicken in sauce evenly. Serve with your favorite chunky bleu cheese dressing and french fries.
